Below are details and prices of safaris currently offered by Wild West.
Red deer safari
On this trip we head up Glengarry to loch Quoich to look for the herds of red deer which roam the hills. From November to May they are usually close to the road giving great photo opportunities. At other times of year, they may be higher up the hill

Loch Garry bird life
Loch Garry has been designated a Special Protection Area due to it’s breeding populations of black throated diver and common scoter, two of Britian’s rarest birds. Widgeon and pochard are also regularly sighted. In the winter, whooper swans and goldeneye ducks visit the loch.

Loch Lochy & Loch Arkaig
Osprey and sea eagles have bred sucessfully on Lochs Lochy and Arkaig in recent years and we regularly see them fishingon the lochs. The Allt Mhuic nature reserve is a stronghold ofthe chequered skipper butterfly, one of the UK’s rarest species.

Glengarry half day safari
We start off with a look at the bird life on Loch Garry where we may see black & red throated diver, scoter and widgeon as well as many other common species. Further on we'll be
looking at the abundant insect and flower life including dragonflies and our native carnivorous plants before rising up to the high hills around Loch Quoich to look for red deer and golden eagles.

Glengarry full day safari
This trip starts off as the half day trip but goes all the way out to Kinloch Hourn where we will meet up with Billy McKenzie and his boat Rowan11 for a trip along loch Hourn. Here we will expect to see seals, porpoises, oyster catchers, herons & many other sea birds. We may also spot otters or, very occasionally, dolphins. Weather permitting we will land at Barrisdale in the middle of the great Knoydart wilderness.

Other information
Trips normally leave from South Laggan where there is ample car parking. Other local pick up points can be arranged.
Most trips involve some short, easy walking. Stout footwear and warm waterproof clothing are recommended.
For day trips, there is a small tea room/cafe at Kinloch Hourn or you can bring a packed lunch.
Binoculars and spotting scope are available on the minibus for client use
Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult
Well behaved dogs are welcome by arrangement but MUST be kept on a lead when out of the vehicle/boat
Bookings are essential
The species listed are an example of those regularly seen on “Wild West” trips. Many
other species inhabit the area. Wild West make no guarantees as to what, if any
species will be seen on a trip. Sightings will vary depending on time year
